Schools with Dyslexia Programme

How do I enrol my child in this programme?
According to Tn. Syed Abdillah, Jabatan Pendidikan Khas (JPK), there are 2 ways to do this: school  takes the initiative, or parents take the initiative.
How do schools take the initiative?
  • Teacher notices that child still cannot read after completingTahun 1
  • Child is placed in a remedial class for a period of one month.
  • If there is no improvement, then teacher conducts ISD testingon child
  • If child is suspected to be dyslexic, teacher informs parents
  • Parents take ISD results and child to an appointed doctor forconfirmation
  • If dyslexia is confirmed, parents go to the nearest UnitPendidikan Khas office  and apply for child to be placedin a suitable school.
How do parents take the initiative?
  • Parents suspect child to be dyslexic
  • Parents approach child’s school for help to conduct ISD testing
  • If suspicion is confirmed, parents take ISD results and child to an appointed doctor for further confirmation
  • Parents apply for child to be placed in a suitable school.
